South Punjab Forest Company
A Public Sector Company registered under Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017
Message From the CEO
Pakistan is blessed with every natural resource on earth, which unfortunately are deteriorating since the nation came into existence. Keeping these issues in mind, the Government of Punjab has taken a unique initiative of promoting commercial forestry investments by establishing South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC). Being a subsidiary of the Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries (FW&F) Department, the organization strives to promote commercial forestry on the blank areas of the FW&F Department in Southern Punjab, so that the wood-based industry of Pakistan can thrive, which in the long-run will contribute to reducing logging pressure on the existing forests of Pakistan. The initiative will also reduce dependence on raw material imports from overseas, thus narrowing the budget deficit.
Current progress has not come without a few bumps in the road, and the intellectual support of our Chairman, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari; Secretary Forests, FW&F Department; and the honorable board members greatly helped to turn the tide. We have to work harder each day to foster an environment at SPFC to help realize our vision of a sustainable future. Being the CEO, I not just take this responsibility very seriously but also strive to make this company a successful model for others to follow.
I will urge the national and international investors to benefit from the opportunity offered by the Government of Punjab. We must know that given the scarcity of land holdings, SPFC offers a golden opportunity to the prospective investors to have thousands of acres of land on lease for 15 years for commercial forestry purposes.
We look forward to formal partnerships with interested investors, research institutions, relevant NGOs and especially with the line department in making this dream a reality. The SPFC team is fully committed to achieve the desired goals in due period of time. We also look forward to hearing our partners’ stories and ideas in upcoming issues and welcome any ideas and feedback.
I would like to thank you all for your guidance and support in letting SPFC become the best organization it can be.
