South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC) is offering 99,077 acres of land in South Punjab
July 30, 2017: : South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC) is offering a total of 99,077 acres of land in the form of 187 forest lots of various sizes in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh and D.G. Khan to investors for 15 years to promote commercial forestry and range management. The government has set 15% reserve price of the total produce for afforestation and Rs. 2000/- for rangelands.
The Government of Punjab in a bid to improve the forest cove has made it mandatory that the 25% of its share will comprise indigenous tree species, which will not be felled during the 15 year concession period thus contributing to the local forest cover and promoting biodiversity.
The initiative will create almost 15,000 jobs in South Punjab, sequester approx. 5.6 million tons of CO2 and offer expected Return on Investment (ROI) of almost 25% to 45%, varying from species to species.
