SPFC and LCCI officials meet to promote forestry investments

July 27, 2017: : The officials of South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC) and Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) have met in a bid to promote forestry investments in Pakistan through the opportunity offered by SPFC.

The delegation of SPFC headed by Tahir Rasheed, CEO, SPFC, met Abdul Basit, President, LCCI, and apprised him of the latest developments, including the approval of SPFC’s project from Public Private Partnership (PPP) Cell of the Government of Punjab. Tahir Rasheed further informed that starting from July 30, 2017, SPFC will advertise its project in national and international media and was hopeful that both national and international investors will advertise in the opportunity.

Abdul Basit appreciated the role of SPFC in promoting sustainable forestry investments and also urged the government to address the energy needs of the marginalized communities, so that dependence on forests for fuelwood can be reduced.

Furthermore, Abdul Basit also agreed to assist SPFC in organizing a pre-bid conference at LCCI, Lahore, in August 2017, and both sides also looked into the possibility of signing an MoU through which the investors can be effectively targeted to invest in SPFC’s opportunity.

The president of LCCI was delighted to know the ways SPFC will contribute to the GDP of the country, and he also suggested the scope of SPFC to be increased and its scale enhanced to central and northern Punjab.
