South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC) and Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RYKCCI) organize seminar to mobilize business community to invest in forestry sector

December 10, 2016: South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC) in collaboration with the Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RYKCCI) organized an inception seminar at RYKCCI, to sensitize the business community and potential investors from Rahim Yar Khan regarding the availability of allotted land and the possibilities of afforestation/reforestation.

The inception seminar at Rahim Yar Khan was strategically important, as Rahim Yar Khan Forest Division has the second highest blank areas (almost 35,000 acres) compared to other forest divisions. The six sites at Rahim Yar Khan Forest Division includes Abbasia (2329 acres), Abbasia Extension (16350 acres), Walhar (1382 acres), Qasim Wala (2763 acres), IL Abbasia (7137 acres) and IL/IL Abbasia (5212 acres). SPFC will attract private investments on the abovementioned blank areas in the context of Public Private Partnership Act, 2014 and the Punjab Forest (Amended) Act, 2016.

At the inception seminar, general overview of the forestry sector in Pakistan, scope of commercial forestry, objectives and future roadmap of SPFC were shared with the participants by Muhammad Awais, Director (Projects and Operations), SPFC.
