March 13, 2017: South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC) in collaboration with Radio Pakistan took a unique initiative of sensitizing the radio producers regarding the importance of forests and how radio can play an important role in raising awareness on forestry. The training session was attended by Syed Khalid Waqar, Station Director, Radio Pakistan, along with the programme staff.

.Tahir Rasheed, CEO, SPFC, briefed the participants that how forests play an imperative role in maintaining the ecological balance, however Pakistan's land area is left with 1.9 per cent of forests (according to Food and Agriculture Organization - FAO), which is a matter of great concern.

Tahir Rasheed also urged that in current scenario urban forestry, agro-forestry and commercial forestry needs to be promoted to protect the remaining forests, so that this natural resource can be passed on to the generations to come.

At the end, Syed Khalid Waqar, Station Director, Radio Pakistan, affirmed that Radio Pakistan will continue to raise awareness of forestry among the masses for a greener future.
