Celebrating International Day of Forests

March 17, 2017: The UN General Assembly proclaimed 21 March the International Day of Forests (IDF) in 2012. The day aims for raising awareness of forestry across the world for a sustainable future. South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC), a subsidiary of the Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries Department (FW&FD), is celebrating the International Day of Forests by organizing a media briefing in order to sensitize the environmental journalists about the importance of forestry and what it holds for Pakistan.

Tahir Rasheed, CEO, SPFC, will brief the media about the International Day of Forests with a focus on this year’s theme ‘Forests and Energy’, state of Pakistan’s forests, forestry initiatives in Pakistan and how SPFC can help to save the existing forests of Pakistan. The event is taking place on Monday, March 20, 2017, from 2 pm till 5 pm.
